Explosive Drones / Loitering Munitions
Sunshine Energetics — Defense Services
Explosive Payload Systems
for Loitering Munitions & Armed Drones
India's defense landscape changed permanently with Operation Sindoor in May 2025. Loitering munitions, kamikaze drones, struck high-value Pakistani targets with precision. At Sunshine Energetics, we supply the energetic core that makes these systems lethal: warhead fills, initiating systems, and integrated explosive payloads purpose-built for unmanned aerial platforms.

Field validated — Operation Sindoor, May 2025
Why this capability matters right now
In May 2025, Indian Armed Forces used loitering munitions including Nagastra-1, ALS-50, JM-1, and Warmate to strike airbases at Noor Khan and Rahimyar Khan — completing precision missions in under 23 minutes. The Indian Army has since ordered 450 additional Nagastra-1R units and issued five new RFIs for drone systems. The demand for high-quality, indigenously manufactured explosive payloads has never been greater. Sunshine Energetics is positioned to be that supplier.
What we offer
Explosive payload services for drone platforms
Every loitering munition needs a precision-engineered energetic payload. We design, formulate, and fill warheads matched to the drone’s weight class, mission profile, and target type.
Warhead fill & assembly
Precision filling of drone warhead casings with HE-FRAG, thermobaric, or shaped-charge compositions to exact weight and density specs. 1 kg to 50 kg payload class support RDX, HMX, and composite fills available Fuze integration and initiator fitting MIL-SPEC compliant charge control
Energetic material supply
Raw and formulated explosive compounds supplied to drone OEMs and system integrators for in-house warhead assembly. RDX Type II & III (military grade) HMX for high-performance platforms PETN for initiating systems Comp-B and PBX formulations
Initiating systems
Complete initiating system design — detonators, booster pellets, and safe-arm fuze interfaces engineered for drone-specific impact conditions. Electric and non-electric initiators Booster pellets (RDX/PETN pressed) Impact and proximity fuze compatibility Anti-inadvertent-initiation (AII) design
Consulting & system integration
End-to-end advisory for drone OEMs on selecting, sizing, and integrating explosive payloads into new and existing unmanned platforms. Payload class selection for target type Weight-to-lethality optimization Regulatory and DGFT compliance support Test range and acceptance trial support
Warhead types
Three warhead typesOne integrated supplier
We supply all three primary warhead fills used in operational loitering munitions — matched to mission profile and target class.
HE-FRAG
High-explosive fragmentation
The most widely deployed warhead type, accounting for 53% of global loitering munition payloads. RDX or Comp-B core surrounded by pre-formed or natural fragmentation matrix. Lethal against personnel, light vehicles, and radar equipment. Nagastra-1 uses a 1 kg HE-FRAG warhead.
Thermobaric
Fuel-air / thermobaric explosive
Devastating in enclosed spaces, bunkers, tunnels, and fortified positions. Disperses a fuel aerosol before ignition, creating a sustained overpressure wave. Increasingly adopted for urban warfare and counter-insurgency applications. The global thermobaric warhead segment is growing at 9.65% CAGR.
HEAT / Shaped-charge
Anti-armor shaped charge
Designed to defeat armored vehicles, APCs, and hardened targets using the Munroe effect — a high-velocity copper jet that penetrates armor. Used in anti-tank loitering munitions and in dual-effect warheads that combine a HEAT core with external fragmentation.
